Nokia Lumia 800 Now available with price tag of Rs.23,500

Posted on 03 March 2012 by wisdom

After lots of promotions and marketing, Nokia changed their market plan by reducing price of their latest smartphone Lumia 800. Now you can buy the Lumia 800 in just Rs. 23,500 on online stores like Flipkart and you may be able to find it for a lot cheaper, if you dig around a bit. For those who’ve bought it for the old price, what can we say, but tough luck.
This price is more like it and we can finally give a nod in its favor. With this price, the Lumia 800 now competes with the Incredible S and the Rhyme and between these phones. it’s a very attractive buy. If you were holding out for the Lumia 800, then now would be the time to grab it.

The Lumia 800 is Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 device and sports a 3.7-inch ClearBlack display from Nokia, themselves. The main attractions towards this handset, lies in the feel and build quality of the phone. The entire chassis is built using a polycarbonate shell which, besides being strong and durable feels unique and different from any other plastic chassis handsets. This also makes it very lightweight and easy to carry around.

Here are the main specifications of the Nokia Lumia 800.

• 3.7-inch Clear Black display with a capacitive touchscreen featuring a 480 x 800 pixel resolution under Gorilla Glass
• 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi,
• GPS with A-GPS support for Bing Maps and hopefully Nokia Maps, as well
• Bluetooth with A2DP + EDR and USB 2.0
• 8MP AF camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a Dual LED flash, 720p HD recording (pity there’s no full HD support)
• FM radio
• 16GB of internal storage
• Active noise cancellation

The Galaxy Beam may not be the first smartphone to include an LED projection unit, but it certainly looks to be the most impressive yet. As well as the typical touch screen playback of movies and games, you can also tap the screen and have the output projected onto a nearby surface. Apparently it looks pretty good up to about 50-inches.

Specifications of Samsung Galaxy Beam

Samsung Galaxy Beam, is the thinnest projector phone. It comes with a 1 GHz processor, powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4 inch super AMOLED screen, and a 2000 mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy Beam is fitted with a pico projector with 15 lumens. It can project an image of 50 inches. It’s like carrying a TV with you all the time. Though the resolution of the final picture decides the fate, Galaxy Beam will get everyone excited. All of this is packed into a slim 12.5 mm thick body.
The Beam runs a 1GHz ST Ericsson dual-core chip, a 4-inch display, 8GB of on-board storage. As you’d expect, the inclusion of a projector makes the phone heavier and thicker, but not significantly so. The Beam weighs 145 grams and measures 12.5mm thick, meaning it is still pocket-friendly.

There’s no details yet as to when the Galaxy Beam will release. It’s also likely Samsung will market it to business users, although I’m sure younger users would be interested too due to the potential to project games and movies on walls for their friends to see.

Samsung dual-SIM Galaxy Y Duos Androids

Posted on 26 December 2011 by wisdom

Samsung today introduced the Galaxy Y Duos and Galaxy Y Pro Duos, a pair of Android smartphone in their Galaxy mobile series that have space for two SIM cards.
Samsung dual-SIM Galaxy Y Duos AndroidsThe Galaxy Y Duos is an all-touch Android 2.3 Gingerbread setup with a 3.1-inch QVGA screen, a 3-megapixel fixed-focus camera, and the Android works. It also has a 1,300mAh battery.
On the slightly higher end of the scale there’s the Galaxy Y Pro Duos, which runs the same Android version and has a full QWERTY keyboard on its candy-bar frame (that keyboard is how you know it’s “pro”). As a result, the screen is a smaller 2.6 inches. There’s a 3-megapixel camera on the back, but Samsung has also added a front-facing VGA camera and a slightly larger 1,350mAh battery.
While there’s no pricing for this yet, Samsung has shared a January release date, and a first market: Russia. The Galaxy Y Duos will then “gradually” roll out to Europe, Africa, CIS, Latin America, Southeast and Southwest Asia, the Middle East, and China. The keyboarded Pro version is headed to Europe, Africa, CIS, Latin America, Southwest Asia, and the Middle East.
North Americans looking for this type of solution are sadly going to have to keep looking for now (or start lobbying Samsung). I’m interested in seeing this in action; hopefully, Samsung brings the duo of Duos along with it to CES, just for fun.

It’s Android or Apple for 71 percent of US smartphone users

Posted on 30 November 2011 by wisdom

Android is the leading smartphone operating system in the United States, while Apple is the leading smartphone manufacturer, Nielsen said Tuesday.

The research firm said 71 percent of U.S. smartphone consumers have either Android phones or iPhones, up from 67 percent in July, when Nielsen issued its previous report.
And while there are app stores from other phone makers, such as BlackBerry and Windows, 83 percent of those who have downloaded an app in the past 30 days had either an Android phone or an iPhone.
According to Nielsen’s latest data, for the third quarter, 44 percent of all U.S. mobile subscribers now have smartphones, and “among those who purchased a new mobile phone in the last three months, 56 percent chose smartphones.”
RIM, which makes BlackBerry, continued its decline in US share; Nielsen says RIM had 17.8 percent of the U.S. market, down from 20 percent in July.
