YouTube Hits a Billion Monthly Users

Watch Bollywood Blockbuster movie free on 'YouTube Box Office'YouTube declared that its number of monthly unique users had passed one billion. According to its official blog.
“If YouTube were a country, we’d be the third largest in the world after China and India,” the triumphant post said.
The announcement comes six months after Facebook reached a billion users.
YouTube launched in February 2005, a year after Facebook, and in its early years was run from a small office above a fast-food restaurant in California.

In 2012 it is estimated that YouTube generated $1.3bn in video advertising. Many hundreds of millions more are thought to be generated from search and banner advertising on the site, according to the Financial Times.

YouTube claims that one in every two internet users is a regular visitor to the site.

At the end of last year it celebrated the world’s first billion-view video with Psy’s Gangnam Style. The South Korean singer’s dance craze video is now well on the way to 1.5bn views.

YouTube now gets more search queries than any other website apart from Google’s own search engine.

Google launches their Business Photos programme in India

Google has launched its Business Photos programme in India. This programme of Google allows users to have a Glimpse of a business premise. It also allows a virtual tour via interactive 360 degree imagery. Users of Google Search, Google Maps, and Google+ Local Pages can access the imagery.

According to Google, business owners can hire ‘Trusted Agency Photographers’ to post images of their interiors. They can also post images of displays on the storefront, like business hours, rating details, credit cards accepted, and posted menus. There’s an option to add social media channels using an embedded code from Google Maps.
Google says the images will help users/customers to have a “better sense of business has to offer and what sets it apart from others”.
Interested businesses in India can visit http://google.co.in/businessphotos and click on ‘Get Started’. Business owners can also upload their own photos and videos of their business to local Google+ pages.

Apart from India, Google’s Business Photos Program is available in countries United States, Australia, New Zealand, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Because if you are shopping for someone who has everything, surely there must be an app for that.
The feature was present in iOS 5, but Apple dropped it for iOS 6. But now it’s reinstated, you can get started on your Christmas shopping over at the iTunes Store.

All you have to do is open the App Store on your iOS device and choose the paid app you’d like to give. Click the Share button in the top right, and a Gift icon will appear.
Tap it, and enter your Apple ID password. You may also have to confirm your payment method.
Enter your recipient’s email address, and add a personal message, if you like. Select the date for them to receive the app, and a colour theme (like a digital version of wrapping paper), tap Buy Gift, and you’re done.
Of course, if you don’t know much about your recipient’s taste in apps, you can always give them an iTunes voucher through Facebook Gifts.

Top 50 most-visited Web sites in the U.S

ComScore released its list of Top 50 most-visited Web sites in the U.S. for September, and besides the usual big hitters, Pinterest made its debut appearance on the list.

Using its Media Metrix survey service, research firm ComScore found that Google was the top site in September, with 187 million visitors, and was closely followed by Microsoft, Yahoo, and Facebook.

Google indoor maps now Available in UK

Just few days left for London Olympics. For this London Olympics Google has released its indoor map feature for various locations in the UK. Google is launching indoor maps for Android devices in the UK. Indoor Maps was first released in the US and Japan in November last year, and has since been updated to improve indoor location accuracy and to provide indoor walking directions.

Now just open Google Maps on your Android mobile phone, zoom in to the location you’re in and the indoor floor plan magically appears. And for buildings where the information is available. The feature launches in the UK with maps of more than 40 locations including the National Theatre, museums, train stations, airports, shopping malls, and others, and allows any building owner to upload their floor plan to be included in the future. Google has a full list of venues on the Google Maps site.
