The ASUS ZenFone 5 and Panasonic P55 were launched last year below the price tag of $200 in India. Both of them are powered by Android KitKat, and fall under the phablet segment category thanks to the large screens. But what makes them actually comparable is their value-for-money quotients. The ASUS ZenFone 5 is from the ZenFone series, which is one of the famous smartphone series in demand in India. The Panasonic P55 on the other hand is the move of the renowned television maker in Android phablet segment.
With a 5.5-inch HD resolution display, the Panasonic P55 is a winner over the ASUS ZenFone 5. However, is a bigger display enough for the Panasonic P55 to win over the ZenFone 5? Let’s find out.
Panasonic P55 vs ASUS ZenFone 5
Design and display
The Panasonic P55 is fitted into a sleek body, of which the full dimension include 149.7 x 77 x 7.9mm. The ZenFone 5 on the other hand is offered with a slightly thick body measuring at 72.8 x 148.2 x 10.34 mm. With the plastic body, the Panasonic P55 doesn’t look so impressive in terms of design, whereas the ZenFone 5 offers a great design with a metal-finish chassis. Overall, the ZenFone 5 certainly wins the design segment over the Panasonic’s P55.
In the display section, the Panasonic P55 gets an upper hand with a 5.5-inch display with HD resolution. The ASUS ZenFone 5, on the other hand comes with a smaller 5-inch display, but offers immersive media viewing experience with an HD resolution screen and 294ppi of pixel density.
Processor, graphics and camera
The Panasonic P55 is fuelled by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, which is further supported by 1GB of RAM. The ZenFone 5 on the other hand has a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel processor, which is coupled with a PowerVR GPU and 2GB of RAM. So, without a doubt, the ZenFone 5 offers better figures in the performance section as compared to the P55.
Both the smartphones come with a few similar specifications. These are powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and offer 8MP rear snapper along with a 2MP front camera.
Storage, connectivity and battery
The ASUS ZenFone 5 is loaded with 8GB of internal memory, double the storage available with the Panasonic P55. Also, the ZenFone 5 supports memory cards up to 64GB in size compared to only 32GB of external cards supports available with the Panasonic P55.
The Panasonic P55 is loaded with a 2,550mAh battery, better than the ZenFone 5 which comes with a smaller 2,110mAh battery. The connectivity choices are same including dual-SIM slots, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth etc.
Overall, if you are more concerned about the battery life and a large display, the Panasonic P55 appears to be a better choice in this segment. However, if you want a premium smartphone feel in a compact design, the ASUS ZenFone 5 is worth considering for. They offer almost same experience on other fronts.
