Now search your way in city by Google

Posted on 16 April 2010 by vivek

All you need to know is where you are and which place you want to reach and Google maps will find the way for you. Not just this. The search engine will also tell you the place from where you can catch a public transport, the distance to be travelled, time required and expenditure for the trip. Already available in Delhi, such a facility may soon come to Chandigarh.

On Thursday, Jagjeet Chawla, product manager, Google India, said, β€œIt will be easier to do it for Chandigarh as it is a well-planned city. Google maps have covered most places in India and road directions are already available to guide vehicles. For enabling maps to tell about public transport, we need schedules and routes from the government.”

Google is learned to have requested the central government to provide data of various public transport systems that can be mapped, like Delhi, where, for instance, if you wish to take the tube from Rajouri Garden to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station Gate No 2, you must just enter your location and destination on Google map. In a few seconds, the engine will tell you that your journey will take 45 minutes, location of Metro station, frequency of tube on the route and nearby taxi stand.

Now in future Google is not only game player in internet world now new era has to come. New search engines that are try to work on across the Web strive to make searches faster, smarter, more personal and more visually interesting.
Some sites, like Twine and hakia, will try to personalize searches, separating out results you would find interesting, based on your Web use. Others, like Searchme, offer iTunes-like interfaces that let users shuffle through photos and images instead of the standard list of hyperlinks. Kosmix bundles information by type — from Twitter, from Facebook, from blogs, from the government — to make it easier to consume.
Google, of course, remains the search king.which captures nearly 64 percent of U.S. online searches, according to comScore.which relied on a community to rank search results rather than a math formula, have largely faded away after some initial buzz.
All these new Engines try for real time search If you search Google news, the results will be recent, but not live. That’s where Twitter’s search comes in. It searches the site’s micro-blog posts by the second,Facebook and FriendFeed also are experimenting with real-time searches, according to news reports. But each of these searches operates only within its own social network. Scoopler is another real-time site that’s trying to aggregate info from all of these sites. and all these are more complecated as two new sites — TweetMeme and OneRiot — launched new or updated real-time searches.
Some search sites are trying to get better at understanding what their users want.
Twine, a social site created by Spivack, soon will start incorporating information about its users into a search function, he said. Some of the information comes through a user’s search history. The site also will ask users to rank search results by their relevance to your interests.
Now google also make some addition in there engine. Google announced a new “show options” feature as part of its search. Users can use the function to see new ways search results are linked, such as through timelines or a “Wonder Wheel,” which displays visual relationships between search terms.
let in this competition only the benefit is get by user..so enjoy this..
