Xperia acro S, a new water-resistant Android smartphone with a 12 megapixel camera. The acro S features a 4.3-inch 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) HD Reality Display with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA engine. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony Mobile has started rolling out Android 4.0 update for selected Smartphones in the India. These devices include Arc S, Neo V and Ray from company’s Xperia series. After this launch Sony become second manufacturer to start the Ice Cream Sandwich update process for its smartphones in India. Before Sony, Samsung also released Android 4.0 for the Nexus S phone.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update for Xperia phones brings new lock-screen, smart dialer, re-sizable widget, face unlock, new task switcher, and performance improvements.

Consumers will have to use the PC Companion or Sony Bridge for MAC software on their computers to upgrade the device.

Sony Mobile Communications launched the Xperia NXT series, Including Xperia P and Xperia U, as well as the Xperia Sola to the Indian market. Xperia P, Xperia U and Xperia Sola will be available to consumers in Q2.

Xperia S is Sony’s first smartphone under its brand name Sony Mobile Communications, after it acquired Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson”s (“Ericsson”) 50 per cent stake in the pair’s former joint venture Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB (“Sony Ericsson”).
